Seagate is dedicated to keeping Owner/Operators loaded and profitable in a competitive industry.

Seagate Transportation is based in Perrysburg, Ohio. Our primary lanes of operation are I-75, from as far north as Flint, MI to as far south as Louisville, KY. We operate as far west as Chicago, IL and Indianapolis, IN on I-80 & 90, and I-70 to as far east as the states of Connecticut and Massachusetts (including New York). We also run in and out of Ontario, Canada. We very seldom operate in NY City or on the Island. We do have 48 state operating authority and occasionally get some longer runs. Living along, or close to, I-75, I-70, I-80 or I-90 in the regional Midwest would be an advantage.
There are no dedicated runs, though some moves are done "every Friday" or "every Monday.”
When You Get Paid
Contractors can get paid any day, Monday through Friday for bills turned in prior to 2 P.M. the day before. You must have the logs turned in up until the last bill you are turning in. There are occasional times due to holidays and vacation time that you may not be able to get a check on a certain day of the week, but we will let you know in advance. We can also Direct Deposit your settlements, ask for details!

Additional Incentives
Driver Referral Program: Drivers recieve a $50.00 cash Bonus for referring Drivers that lease on with Seagate. If their referrals stay at least 3 months the Driver recieves an additional $200.00, totaling $250.00 for referrals.

Fixed daily rental amount - you make a fixed payment per day, Monday through Friday (5) days and put $ .15 per mile into maintenance fund - $ .15 per mile is collected each settlement and used to pay for Physical Damage Insurance, PM's and repairs, tires, plates, fuel taxes, Federal Highway taxes
Escrow
Seagate Transportation Services requires all contractors to maintain an escrow of $1000. We take $50 dollars per week until the escrow has reached $1000. If the contractor ever decides to leave he will receive his escrow back within 45 days less any charges not collected with normal settlements.
Seagate Transportation provides Comdata cards for purchasing fuel. There is no need to call dispatch for fuel money. Full-time Contractors are entitled to $100 cash advance per week, from the Comdata card, which is automatically available every Monday morning.
Cell Phones
Seagate offers its contractors free Unlimited Use of a company Nextel Blackberry or cell phones with email capabilities in the contractor's name. Ask for more details!
Plates
Plates for Owner Operators are free under the mileage pay program after you are with Seagate for 6 months. If you should leave before 6 months has passed, you will be deducted a prorated amount from your final settlement. The prorated amount will be $70.85 per week for up to 24 weeks.
Contractor Requirements
- Minimum Age = 25
- No criminal convictions of any kind, including felonies, which would prevent entry into Canada
- 2 year verifiable OTR commercial driving experience
- Any Driver with a conviction within the last 5 years for the following violations in any type vehicle is not eligible to operate equipment for Seagate Transportation
- DUI or Test Refusal
- Reckless Driving
- Hit and Run
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- Passing a school bus
- Racing
- Any other felony
- No more than 3 moving violations in a 1 year period or 5 in a 5 year period
- CDL issued by the state of which the driver resides and works from
- No load abandonment's for any reason
- Unauthorized location - w/o notice
- Authorized location - with notice
- Stable work history, not changing jobs every couple of months
- No drug or alcohol convictions
- Reliable work ethic
- Cell phone
- A willingness to work 7 days a week
TRUCK PURCHASE PROGRAM
Seagate Transportation also has a Drive to Own Program for those who have been accustomed to operating "company" equipment and have wished to buy their own truck to become owner/operators. Purchasing your own truck is a big decision. The freedom of owning your own vehicle brings many responsibilities. You will be responsible for expenses that before were covered by the company you drove for. Seagate Transportation has made the transition easier. We can get you into a Lease to Purchase vehicle with no money down. The payments on these vehicles range from about $275 to $404 a week. A maintenance fund is set up, taking $0.15 cents per mile into the maintenance fund, until the fund reaches $7000. This fund pays for p.m.'s, plates, fuel taxes, repairs, tires, etc. The fund is increased each pay check by the $0.15 cents per mile, and reduced as maintenance items are deducted. With Seagate Transportation assisting your budget, you are relieved of many of the worries, should any breakdowns occur. You may terminate a lease to purchase contract by acquiring a loan on your own, or by returning the vehicle with a reasonable notice. Should you terminate the program early, the maintenance fund is forfeited to pay expenses.

Pre-Orientation Checklist
- Take care of any family, financial, maintenance business prior to the orientation. Chances are we will have a load for you as soon as you have completed orientation.
- Employment History for past ten (10) years. Names of the companies, complete addresses and phone numbers for each past employer.
- Pre-employment DOT Regulated drug screen - commonly called "NIDA-5" drug screens. Have results forwarded to Seagate Transportation. If the facility that did your drug screen would charge us more than $35 for a DOT regulated physical, then have the physical done in Toledo the day of your orientation. If you have the Long Form and the Medical Examiners card from a DOT physical that is less than 1 year old we will accept that.
- Bring your Driver's License to orientation.
- Bring your vehicle, WITH ANY SIGNS FROM YOUR PREVIOUS COMPANY REMOVED before orientation.
- Bring a copy of the vehicle's registration (IRP Cab Card). Make sure your IRP Registration lists all of the Midwestern states to those in the East Coast. (Suggested list of states: CT, DE, IL, IN, IA, KY, ME, MD, MA, MI, NJ, NH, NY, OH, PA, RI, TN, WV, and WI). These are the states that Seagate Transportation runs in on a regular basis. Should you take a run outside these states, we can assist you in adding them to your registration.
- Bring a copy of your current Annual Vehicle Inspection.
- Orientation begins promptly at 8:00am and ends at 5:00pm (Eastern Time). The Operations Personnel each take time to introduce you to themselves and their department.
